Chapel for Seniors

seniors 1There is a warm welcome for you to attend our Seniors’ gatherings at MCF. This is a group for singles, married couples, widows and widowers, in fact anyone who has reached the grand age of 60! If you have a spouse under 60 of course they are welcome to join in all activities.

We meet monthly usually beginning with morning tea and a chat. This is followed by either singing or someone sharing something from their current experience.

It gives us the opportunity to share issues and realities relevant to those over 60; living with shrinking finances, living through sickness and pain, loneliness, bereavement, making a will, preparing our own funeral to name just a few.

In 2008 we had an alternating program. One month we met informally in a private home for a relaxed time where ones could share the real issues of their life. As Christians this often involved them sharing how they were experiencing God’s love in their day-to-day as individuals or as a household. On the other month we met at Holloway Road and had a time of singing and a word of encouragement from the Bible. The Bible has so much helpful to say to us oldies!

Each year we have an annual time together over a weekend. We meet on the Friday evening commencing with dinner and conclude with a lunch after the Sunday morning worship service. This weekend is an opportunity to hear a message especially prepared for those of our age group as well as social outings to the Dandenongs  and of course the annual concert. This is always a highlight!

Other outings are held during the year. In 2008 we visited the ‘Celebrating Melbourne’ display at the Museum of Victoria. This stimulated many memories as we walked through the various exhibits.

If you are disabled in any way, transport can be arranged and the facilities at each meeting place are able to ensure access for all. Come and join us. We’d love to make you welcome.
